Asheville’s affordable housing crisis is reaching a breaking point. The demand is high, but the solutions are often complex and out of reach. Join us for an essential discussion on how we can create more affordable housing—now, not later.
Meet the Experts:

🔹 Kirk Booth – Real Estate Developer & Investor
A local developer who focuses exclusively on affordable housing, Kirk Booth has built over 300 residential units in partnership with the City of Asheville Affordable Housing Trust Fund and the Buncombe County Affordable Housing Program. He actively works to make housing accessible, despite the challenges that deter many other developers. Kirk will break down why affordable housing matters, the barriers to building it, and the programs and incentives that make it possible.

🔹 Barry Bialik – Entrepreneur, Builder & Affordable Housing Advocate
Founder of Thirsty Monk and Compact Cottages, Barry Bialik is a passionate advocate for affordable housing and a builder of 200+ homes and ADUs in Asheville. As a former Chair of the City of Asheville’s Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Barry has spent years working on solutions to bridge the housing gap. His latest venture—a Prefab House Factory in Asheville—aims to make housing more efficient, affordable, and accessible. He also brings a creative approach, having developed “missing middle” subdivisions with beer-themed streets like Cascade Street, Porter Place, and Lager Lane.
